Brief History
The Brief History page shows every brief OI Brief has generated for your store, from newest to oldest. Use it to review past insights, check delivery status, and regenerate any briefs that failed.
Navigate to Brief History from the left sidebar in the OI Brief app.
Brief List
Each row in the history list shows:

| Status | Current state of the brief (see statuses below) |
| Generated At | Timestamp when the brief was created |
| Emailed At | Timestamp when the email was sent (if applicable) |
Click any row to open the Brief Detail view.
Brief Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
pending | Brief is queued for generation |
generated | Brief content is ready; email may not have been sent yet |
emailed | Brief was successfully delivered to your inbox |
failed | Brief generation or email delivery encountered an error |
Viewing a Brief
Click any brief in the list to open the full content. The detail view shows:
- The complete AI-generated brief (Performance Summary, Key Observations, Recommended Actions)
- The metrics that were used to generate it (revenue, orders, AOV, top product, low-stock count)
- Delivery status and timestamps
Regenerating a Failed Brief
If a brief shows a failed status, you can regenerate it:
- Click the failed brief to open the detail view.
- Click the Regenerate button.
- OI Brief will re-run the generation process using the same day's metrics.
Regenerating a brief does not re-fetch Shopify data. It uses the metrics that were already synced for that date. If the original sync also failed, the regenerated brief may have incomplete data.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there a gap in my brief history?
OI Brief runs once per day. If the app was just installed, or if there was a service interruption, some dates may not have a brief. These gaps cannot be backfilled retroactively.
My brief shows generated but I never received the email.
Check that your email address in Settings is correct and that the Email Delivery toggle is turned on. You can still read the brief in the app even if the email wasn't sent.
Can I delete a brief?
No. Briefs are read-only records of your store's history. You can regenerate failed ones, but existing briefs cannot be deleted or edited.
